Driving Test!

Travis and I took the last couple of weeks (ok maybe just good intentions the first week but the second we had to focus!) studying for the driving test. Unbeknownst to us, we have been driving illegally on our Idaho driver’s licenses since getting our car but here is the process. We got our car and immediately signed up for the test...I guess we should have done that in the other order! When you sign up for the test online, they assign a test date that is typically 3 months away. Consequently, we had one week in June to reserve a spot but unfortunately, that one week was while we were in the US! Just before that date arrived, we had to push it out another 3 months which was last Friday. It is called the Basic Theory of Driving Test and it is pretty basic but most people fail the first time around! Did you hear that, they fail! We were pretty sure Friday would not be the last time we saw that driving center! We did try to prepare ourselves the best we could. This included studying the book, making 300 flash cards and taking the online practice test. This is more than Travis ever studied in college, mind you! We had friends who took classes on passing this test and studied for it like they were passing the Bar. So I was nervous, Travis was pretty sure he was going to fail and we were a sorry sight the night before. The reason people fail is because of a few reasons. The first reason is the wording. It is written awkwardly and in many cases, the sentences make absolutely no sense. Second, the road rules are different and a little counter intuitive to what we would think coming from the U.S. And finally, the test questions are tricky! I'm absolutely certain they are not meant to test your knowledge but only to make you angry! Remember that college professor who would write a multiple choice test to make you feel like he was doing you a favor only to learn that every answer was correct and you just had to pick the best? That's what this test is like. Check out a few of the samples below and let us know how you do!
